PURPOSE: To provide preventive agent or improved for medical symptoms, esp. effective as an anti-inflammatory agent or anti-allergic agent, also relatively low in side effects, and applicable to chronic symptoms.
CONSTITUTION: The preventive agent or improver containing, as active ingredient, an omega 9-series unsaturated fatty acid, pref. 6,9-octadecadienoic acid, 8,11-eicosadienoic acid or 5,8,11-eicosatrienoic acid. The dose of the fatty acid when to be used as a medicine is 1-1000 (esp. 1-200)mg a day per adult for oral administration, or 0.1-100 (esp. 0.1-20)mg a day per adult for parenteral administration. This fatty acid can be incorporated in food/beverage stocks (in particular, such stocks intrinsically virtually free from this fatty acid) and taken in the form of health foods or functional foods.
