PURPOSE: To prevent a filling nozzle from being broken in the case where the filling nozzle of a filling machine is not insterted into a container.

CONSTITUTION: A weight member 12 is fixed to an upper part of a filling nozzle 4 mounted to a liquid feed tube 10 extended from a filling liquid tank side. A sliding cylindrical member 32 is connected to and supported on a central support 14 of a filling machine via a supporting means 16. The filling nozzle is inserted into the sliding cylindrical member in a vertically slidable manner, and the weight member abuts against the upper part of the sliding cylindrical member to be stopped thereat. Further, the sliding cylindrical member is made relatively movable with respect to the supporting means. A sensor 38 for detecting the relative movement of the filling nozzle with respect to the supporting means side is provided and, when the filling nozzle is deviated, filling operation is stopped. Accordingly, the need for providing a centering mechanism between the filling nozzle and a container can be eliminated.
