PURPOSE: To surely prevent a mounting means from being erroneously inserted to or colliding with the part which is provided with various members of an XY table to form a dead space.

CONSTITUTION: If the dead space formed by providing various members of an XY table 1 exists, this position must be measured in an electronic parts mounting and inserting machine. It is measured by a recognition camera 5 and is transferred to insertion data to prevent an insertion head 6 or the like from being put into this dead space. As the result, erroneous insertion or collision of the insertion head 6 or the like to or with the dead space is surely prevented; and since the position of the dead space is confirmed by automatic measurement, the work is simplified, and the unnecessary labor is eliminated, and the misoperation is prevented to protect the machine from damage.
