PURPOSE: To make it possible to easily change folding width by a method wherein an upper and a lower gear rolls for folding sheet are respectively made of assemblies of narrow split gear rolls and at least either one of the gear rolls is made vertically movable and guide bars are inserted between the narrow split gear rolls under the condition that the bars are made vertically movable.
CONSTITUTION: An upper gear roll 1 and a lower gear roll 2, both of which engage with each other, are respectively made of assemblies of a large number of narrow split gear rolls. At least either one of the gear rolls 1 and 2 is made vertically movable. An upper guide bar 5 and a lower guide bar 6 are inserted between the upper and lower narrow split gear rolls so as to be vertically movable respectively over the domains ranging from the tooth bottoms to the tooth tips of the gear rolls 1 and 2. Thus, the folding width of sheet 5 can easily be changed. Further, either one of a vertical pair of conveying means 3 and 4, which convey the folded sheet S to the direction of a delivery port, is made vertically movable.
