PURPOSE: To provide the wound protective material which rapidly gelatinizes in a local part and protects a wound part when applied to the wound part by drying a thin sheet-like material obtd. by making a hydrous org. solvent absorbed into powdery sodium polyacrylate and compacting the wetted powdery sodium polyacetate.

CONSTITUTION: The hydrous org. solvent is absorbed in the powdery sodium polyacrylate and the wetted powdery sodium polyacrylate is compacted to obtain the thin sheet-like material. The thin sheet-like material is then dried, by which the hydrous org. solvent is produced. The hydrous org. solvent is absorbed into the powdery sodium polyacrylate developed on a thin layer and the hydrous org. solvent contg. the water at 25 to 60wt.% ratio is used in the stage for making the hydrous org. solvent absorbed into the powdery sodium polyacrylate. A preserving agent and/or sterilizing agent is compounded into the powdery sodium polyacrylate and/or the hydrous org. solvent. This wound protective material gels immediately and fills the inside of the extraction cavities when applied into the extraction cavities.
