Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for arranging a finger protecting apparatus in a calender by respectively specifying the positions of a parapet and a breastwork provided in a movable platform.
CONSTITUTION: This movable platform 5 is obtained by installing a parapet 8 having a lower height B than that of an operator 7 in the movable platform 5 in front of a plurality of press rollers 2 and 3 and a guide roller 4, selecting the distance C so that the hand can be introduced over the parapet 8 into a non-dangerous zone of a calender by the operator 7, additionally installing a breastwork 12 raisable upward with respect to the parapet 8 therein and preventing the access to a dangerous zone of the calender. Furthermore, a controller is operated so that the breastwork 12 can be raised when the movable platform 5 is located outside a predetermined non-dangerous position and the calender is in operation and the breastwork 12 can be lowered only when the calender is idle or the calender is in operation and the movable platform 5 is located at the predetermined non-dangerous position.
