PURPOSE: To provide a paper feed roller in which the transverse slippage of paper is prevented, and a high feeding precision can be provided, and a method for manufacturing it.

CONSTITUTION: A rubber body 15 is fixed in ring to the surface of a cylinder 14 consisting of metal or resin material at prescribed intervals, and the cylinder 14 is plated with metal to form a ring protruding part 16 consisting of a metal plate layer with the rubber body 15. The height of the ring protruding part 16 is set to the same as the rubber body 15 or higher than it. As the metal plating, hard chromium plating, electroless nickel phosphor plating or electroless nickel boron plating is preferably adapted.
