Abstract:
PURPOSE: To shorten switching time of a DHF(distorted helix ferroelectric) type liquid crystal cell.
CONSTITUTION: The structure of a DHF type liquid crystal cell is constituted of glass boards 1 and 2, electrode layers 3 and 4, PVA coatings 5 and 6, liquid crystal layer 7, and insulated layer 8. The insulated layer 8 constitutes the capacity of the liquid crystal layer 7, and a serial capacitive dielectric. In this method for driving the DHF type liquid crystal cell, the cell can capacitively be driven, and a switching time can be shortened to one tenth. The cell can be driven through an outside connected capacity instead of the capacity accumulated on the liquid crystal layer 7.
