PURPOSE: To improve the using efficiency of a storage area in a temporary storage device and to improve the processing capability of a single chip microcomputer or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A part of a storage area allocated as a stack area of a random access memory(RAM) prepared as a temporary storage device in a microcomputer or the like is used also as a work area for normal processing and a central processing unit(CPU) is provided with a stack pointer(SP) for specifying an address to be used next to the stack area, a work pointer(WP) for specifying an address to be used next to the work area and a work pointer control circuit(WPC) for selectively generating an interruption when all of the addresses specified by the SP and WP or the prescribed part of the addresses coincide with each other.
