PURPOSE: To achieve good combustion and reduce harmful substances in exhaust gas by obtaining a high injection pressure of a fuel injection device which can be already attained at low rotation speeds and low load operation without exceeding a maximum allowable pressure value in a nominal capacity range of an internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel tapping device 45 made as a valve device or the like comprised of a pressure limiting valve 47, an electromagnetic valve 55, a pressure accumulator 57 or a relief volume 67 is connected to a branch conduit 43 that branches off from a delivery passageway 15 or a pump working chamber 13, at a high-pressure side of a fuel injection device defined by a portion at the pump working chamber of a valve 37 of a fuel passageway 31.
