Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent scuffing and abnormal wear from being generated on a piston ring even if the position of a cooling cavity must be shifted so that it is separated from the vicinity of a top ring groove.
CONSTITUTION: An annular cooling cavity 5 is formed in a piston body 4 between a piston cavity 2 used as a combustion chamber 1 and a piston ring groove 3 in which a piston ring is fitted closely, and an annular plate 7 formed with a material of which heat conductivity is different from that of a material which constitutes the piston body 4 is cast so that its one end is projected into the cooling cavity 5 and the other end is located near the top part 4a of the piston body 4.
