PURPOSE: To perform a high accurate flame diagnosis by a method wherein light emission images at locations of more than a plurality of flames are taken, a ratio of optical intensity of two wave length components is calculated for the light emitted images and combustion characteristics of the flame at each of the points in the flame are evaluated.
CONSTITUTION: A light emitted image of a flame 1 of a burner 51 is taken at an objective lens light receiving optical system 2 and branched into two images by a branch mirror 3. Then, the branched light emitted images are taken into an image taking device 8 through optical interference filters 4, 5 and cameras 6, 7. The images are inputted from the image taking device 8 into a calculation device 9 and a physical amount image of combustion characteristic evaluation for the flame is calculated. Then, a temperature distribution image in the flame and an air ratio distribution image are formed and outputted to a monitor 10 and further outputted to the evaluation device 11. A difference with a rational combustion flame is evaluated by the evaluation device 11, outputted to the control device 12 so as to control a flow rate of air and fuel with a flow rate adjusting means 54.
