Abstract:

PURPOSE: To unnecessitate initialization for the entire face of a medium and to apply a conventional application program, etc., as it so.
CONSTITUTION: When the data read request of a magneto-optical disk device 13 is executed from a data program 11-1, etc., through an operating system (OS) 12, a magneto-optical disk driver 14 transmits a read command to the magneto-optical disk device 13. When a blank check state status is returned from the magneto-optical disk device 13 in respect to this request, it is reported from the driver 14 to the OS 12 that reading is normally executed, an initial value peculiar for the system is set to a buffer designated by the work program and further, the initial value is written in a relevant block on a magneto-optical disk medium. It is informed from the OS 12 to the work program that reading is normally executed. The work program receiving this information processes data in the designated buffer as read data from the magneto-optical disk device 13.
