Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the insufficiency of irradiated light quantity at a leading edge part and to prevent the lowering of copying quality at the copying leading end part by polishing the leading edge surface of an original platen glass so that it may become a mirror-like surface.
CONSTITUTION: As to the original illuminating device for a copying machine which is constituted so that the light may be irradiated from the underneath of the original platen glasses 2 and 9 for placing the original 7 and the reflected light may be irradiated on a photosensitive body side through an optical system, the scanning lead side end surfaces 2a and 9a of the original platen glasses 2 and 9 are polished so as to become the mirror-like surface. And also, mirror material is vapor-deposited on the leading edge end surfaces 2a, 9a of the original platen glasses 2 and 9, so that the end surfaces become the mirror-like surfaces. Furthermore, it is desirable that the leading edge surface 9a of the original platen glass 9 is inclined so that it may become almost parallel with the light reflected from a counter reflector 6 for a scanning system 3 positioned on the uppermost stream side in a scanning direction. Thus, the original 7 placed on the leading edge part is irradiated with the light from the main reflector 5, and also, directly irradiated with the light from the counter reflector 6, so that the insufficiency of the light quantity may be improved.
