PURPOSE: To provide a method for accurately reading a recording signal by correcting the influence of interference between picture element caused by the light emission of another picture element by the scattering of stimulating light by considering the light condensing efficiency of a condenser in the case of reading an image by using a stimulable phosphor plate.

CONSTITUTION: In the case of specifying the influence of the picture element on a noticeable picture element shown in (a), isolated image information is recorded only in the noticeable picture element shown in (b), and the measurement (read) of a signal value is executed twice as shown by the figure, then the degree of interference is specified by the use of measurement data by making use of the equivalence of relative position between the picture elements on the plate. Based on preliminary information obtained by specifying it, the actually read image is corrected.
