Abstract:
PURPOSE:To shorten the stop period of operation for the definition change of a data base and to easily perform the previous test of the state after the change and the stepwise definition change by obtaining formal and general frame and mechanisms which arrange relations between data base definition and an application program in the data base. CONSTITUTION:A definition change managing means 11 is provided to manage definition information of the old version, that of the new version, and relations between them, and definition information of the old version or the new version is selected by an access selecting means 17 at the time of requesting the access. Definition change 18 of a data base 12 is divided to an application phase 14, a verification phase, and a settling phase, and mechanisms operated in respective phases are formalized and generalized to settle the general frame for change definition. Thus, definition change processing procedures 10 and restriction management 11 can be taken into a data base management system 13 in the general level.
