PURPOSE: To provide the forming method for a space part of a slide fastener chain, by which a space forming part can be positioned simply, and parts such as a punch, etc., are scarcely consumed.
CONSTITUTION: A chain 1 is transferred by a feed roller 3, and on the upstream side of a space part cutting device 6, a positioning pin 7 is arranged and coupled with an adjacent fastener element 5 of a space forming part and positioned, and thereafter, a positioning pin 8 on the downstream side is arranged in advance in a non-coupled state to the adjacent fastener element 5 of the space forming part, and by rotating forward the feed roller 3, the slide fastener chain 1 is stretched and coupled with the fastener element 5. Thereafter, by rotating backward the feed roller 3, positioning is executed, and by cutting and eliminating the fastener element 5 of the space part by a punch 9, the space part is formed.
