PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as a textile treating agent, etc., in high yield by subjecting an n-butyl acrylate and a dialkylaminoalkanol to ester interchange reaction using a dialkyltin oxide catalyst and distilling away the n-butanol formed as a by-product under reduced pressure.
CONSTITUTION: n-Butyl acrylate is used as an alkyl acrylate and subjected to ester interchange reaction with a dialkylaminoalkanol (e.g. diethylaminoethanol) expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are 1-8C alkyl or aralkyl; R1 and R2 may be bound to methylene group or hetero-atom to form a ring; Y is 2-4C alkylene) using a dialkyltin oxide (e.g. di-n-butyltin oxide) as a catalyst while distilling away n-butanol formed as a by-product under reduced pressure to afford the objective dialkylaminoalkyl acrylate (e.g. diethylaminoethyl acrylate) expressed by formula II in high yield.
