Abstract:
PURPOSE: To offer a needle stopper for syringe, capable of closing the needle cannula by one hand.
CONSTITUTION: This needle stopper 14 to be used together with such a subcutaneous injection syringe as an arterial blood gas syringe, is provided with a shell 42 having a bottom, an opened crown and a needle accommodation chamber formed between the former two. The bottom is shaped so as to support the needle stopper 14 in an upright state. The needle accommodation chamber accommodates the needle cannula 34, and has a size so as to be connected to a needle hub 36 connected to the needle cannula 34. This chamber is filled with sealant 66 capable of closing the needle cannula 34 head. Uprightly supporting this needle stopper 34 allows a user to put the needle cannula 34 into the needle accommodation chamber by one hand to close the needle head. Coupling the needle stopper 14 with the needle hub 36 allows the user to separate both the needle hub 36 and the needle cannula 34 from the syringe cylinder 20 safely and conveniently, and to dispose of both. The syringe cylinder head is capped, which is then sent to a laboratory for analysis.
