Title:
BELLOW-LIKE CAN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0664651
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce a can body to an appropriate thickness by forming a cylindrical part of the can body into such a bellows-like shape as to make the cylindrical body compressible in the axial direction of the can body.

CONSTITUTION: The cylindrical part 2 of a can body 1 is made into the form of a bellow and has a wall thickness, a distance between the crests of the bellows sections and a depth between the root and crest thereof set at an appropriate value to allow the can body to be compressed and reduced in an orderly manner when the can body is pressed with the hand in its axial direction X. As for the shape of the bellows forming the cylindrical part 2, the crest of each bellows section may be sharp, rounded or of any other shape so long as the can body 1 can be compressed in its axial direction X. Therefore, the can body 1 can be reduced to an appropriate thickness, The treatment of empty cans in this way eliminates the likelihood of the empty can being thrown away from inside a car to prevent the environmental disruption and makes transporting the empty can easy and the recovery of resources possible without using an expensive empty can crushing machine.
