Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an internetwork device having both advantages of a router and a bridge within one device.
CONSTITUTION: An internetwork device 1 has a constitution of dividing a stored network 5 into plural bridge groups 6 by groups, and setting a routing table 32 controlling the logical address of a terminal by a bridge group unit, a device physical address 33 corresponding to each bridge group 6 and a bridging table 34 controlling the physical address of the terminal by a network unit. The device operates as a bridge in the communication within the same bridge group and as a router in the communication between bridge groups.
