PURPOSE: To perform the heat-setting of a cloth in bulky state in washing and to remarkably improve the cloth-washing performance.
CONSTITUTION: An airtight box 1 is continuously supplied with a washing liquid having a definite pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure and a temperature slightly lower than the saturation temperature corresponding to the liquid pressure. The box 1 contains protruded ridges 2, 3, 4 each having a 1st slit 5 connecting the inside of the box to the outside and elastic flexible members 8, 9, 10 each supported by a supporting rod 11 extended parallel to the protruded ridge and closing the 1st slit. The cloth A pressed between the elastic flexible member and the tip of the protruded ridge by the pressure difference between the inside and the outside of the airtight box is transferred in the direction F. A part of the washing liquid passing through the clamped part of the cloth toward the 1st slit is boiled and evaporated by the lowering of the pressure of the liquid and the steam ejected from the 1st slit is liquefied by a condenser 18 and reused.
