Abstract:

PURPOSE: To generate high-caster operation when a car is cornering even in case a suspension giometry with the anti-diving performance and attitude stability enhanced to a great extent is incorporated in the car.

CONSTITUTION: A suspension mechanism 1 comprises an upper trailing link 6, upper lateral link 7, and a pair of lower lateral links 8, 9, in which the momentary center Pc of front wheel 2 viewed on the car body side elevation is determined as the intersection of the axis of the link 6 with the line tying the body side coupling points of the lower lateral links 8, 9. In this suspension mechanism 1, the momentary center Pc is set high to enhance the anti-diving performance and attitude stability. An adjusting means 5 to adjust the position of the body side coupling point A of the link 6 in accordance with the degree of cornering in order to generate high-caster operation by sinking the momentary center Pc of the cornering outer wheel at the time of cornering bump.
