Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a polyester carbonate of excellent quality from inexpensive easily available starting materials by a simple process.
CONSTITUTION: This process consists of polycondensing a complex of an aromatic carboxylic acid with a tert. amine with bischloro-formate of a bisphenol or a chloroformate-group-containing bisphenol polycarbonate oligomer in the presence of an alkali in an organic solvent. The polymer obtained by this process is heated to 150°C or above to produce a polyester carbonate of excellent heat resistance.
