Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an artificial bone having living body activity capably of limiting the growth of a silica gel layer not to give effluent Ca2+ ion beyond a necessary amount and a method for manufacturing the same.

CONSTITUTION: An artificial bone is formed of a glass or crystallized glass having main components of CaO and SiO2 and has characteristically a hydrophobic group on the surface. A coupling agent is applied to the surface of the glass or crystallized glass having CaO and SiO2 as the main components and dried to prepare the artificial bone.
