Abstract:
PURPOSE: To keep the image resolution of an interlace image by applying the digital processing to the 1st and 2nd sequential fields which form a frame. CONSTITUTION: A video camera 60 is connected to an adapter 62 which captures two interlaced fields forming a complete frame. Then a detailed image of high space frequency that can be an operating artifact is checked in a block (B1) 64. The disturbance degree of each segment of a captured image is compared with the threshold of the details of high frequency and decided in a block B168. Then all working artifacts of the image are eliminated in a block B170 by replacing the estimation value obtained by only one of both captured fields. In the block B172, the original image of a line 74 and the image of low resolution of a line 76 are selected and mixed together under the control of the output of the B168 and then connected together at an area base. The mixture image received from the B172 is shown on a video display monitor 80 via an adapter 78. Thus, the image resolution is kept and the working artifacts can be eliminated from the images.
