PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording/reproducing device capable of obtaining an always fine reproduced image even in the traveling sate of a magnetic tape at an optional traveling speed.
CONSTITUTION: Respective magnetic heads arranged on 180°C symmetrical positions of a rotary head and having mutually different azimuth angles are fixed to individual magnetic head driving parts for driving and displacing respective heads in the width direction of a recording locus and the recording locus of a magnetic tape is accurately traced by a positioning control means 5 for desplacing the position of each magnetic head to an objective position. A memory capable of storing a reproducing signal for more than one recording locus of the magnetic tape is prepared and only a reproducing signal obtained when each magnetic head tracs a new recording locus is written in the memory, and in a case other than she case, a reproduced signal from each magnetic head is canceled without writing it. The reproduced signal written in the memory is read out by a reading clock with a prescribed period as an output reproduced signal and the reproduced signal written in the memory instead of the canceled reproduced signal is read out by a reading clock with a prescribed period and used as an output reproduced signal.
