PURPOSE: To provide a safe, effective and labor-saving process for the control of rice blast while utilizing the humification of rice straw and controlling the amount of the straw to reduce the generation of methane gas by continuously applying a granular agent for promoting humification of straw without using agricultural chemicals.
CONSTITUTION: Rice straws are used as main component and plowed into a paddy field after harvesting rice together with 2-6 kg of a granular humification-promoting agent (a nitrogen-free basic fertilizer containing lime or magnesia, a nitrogen fertilizer and a phosphatic fertilizer other than fused phosphatic fertilizer) based on 60-70kg of the rice straw to effect the humification of rice straw. Thereafter, the paddy field is subjected to spring plowing, scattering of basal dressing, soil puddling, rice transplantation, scattering of herbicide, midsummer drainage, (preferably application of 0.1-0.2kg of ear fertilizer in terms of nitrogen per 1 are of paddy field in the young ear forming stage) and reaping of rice. When the generation of gas from the paddy field in late June and before the midsummer drainage becomes ≤300L per 1 are of the paddy field, the spring plowing and the scattering of basal dressing can be omitted to directly perform the reaping, application of the granular humification-promoting agent, autumn plowing, soil puddling and rice transplantation. Rice blast can be controlled by this process.
