PURPOSE: To improve the convenience of use at zooming with a zoom lever.
CONSTITUTION: An object image formed by a zoom lens 1 is converted into an electric signal by an image pickup sensor 3 and the electric signal is processed by an electronic zoom signal processing circuit 4, from which a video signal is outputted. When a zoom lever 2 is moved manually from 0 degree up to a prescribed angle 8, the zoom lens 1 is controlled to change a optical zoom magnification and when the lever 2 is turned more, the optical zoom magnification is fixed to a maximum magnification and a lever angle detector 5 detects a rotary angle of the zoom lever 2 and outputs a detection signal. An electronic zoom signal processing section 4 changes an expansion/ compression rate of a video signal in response to the rotary angle of the zoom lever, that is, the electronix zoom magnification. The optical zoom magnification and the electronic zoom magnification are manually adjusted.
