PURPOSE: To obtain a microsomal triglyceride transfer protein(MTP), gene of the protein, an expression vector containing the gene and the host cell and provide a method for producing the protein and detection method of inhibitor of the protein.
CONSTITUTION: A nucleic acid sequence, especially DNA sequence encoding all or a part of high molecular weight subunit of MTP is determined and an expression vector containing the DNA sequence or its host cell is prepared and further, a polypeptide comprising all or part of the high molecular weight subunit of MTP is prepared and a method for preventing and stabilizing and causing regression of arteriosclerosis by utilizing the these substance is provided and a serum lipid lowering agent is obtained.
