Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound in a good and nearly theoretical yield by solvating a soln. of potassium fluoride or the like with hydrofluoric acid or the like and adding Al2O3.3H2O to react with it.
CONSTITUTION: A reaction vessel made of a material such as polyethylene is used. KOH is added to water contained in the reaction vessel to have a 20-46 wt.% concn. Subsequently 20-100 wt.% of a compound selected from a group comprising of hydrofluoric acid, anhydrous HF, hydrofluoric acid aq. soln. and HF is supplied to the reaction vessel to form a soln. represented by the formula: KF.nHF ((n) is 1-6), to remove a heat of reaction and to maintain the temp. of the soln. at a temp. of <110°C. Subsequently the temp. of the soln. is maintained at ≥50°C, a stoichiometric amount of Al2O3.3H2O is added and the soln. is mixed to form a mixture. A reaction time is given to the mixture to induce and maintain a reaction by utilizing the evolved heat of reaction and to form a suspension. The subject compd. is separated from the suspension.
