Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve a charge and discharge cycle characteristic by making a positive electrode active material have a diffraction peak half-value width, on a (003) surface in the vicinity of CuKalpha<1>, 2theta=18 deg.--20 deg., 0.17 deg. or more and 0.30 deg. or less in a powder X-ray diffraction chart. CONSTITUTION:A battery has a positive electrode 1, positive electrode case 2, titane electricity collecting body 3, separator 4, lithium plate 5, sealing plate 6, and gasket 7. In this case, LiCoO2, in which a diffraction peak half-value width on a (003) surface in the vicinity of Cukalpha<1>, 2theta=18 deg.-20 deg. in a powder X-ray diffraction chart is 0.17 deg. or more and 0.30 deg. or less, is used for the positive electrode active material of the positive electrode 1. That is, the degree of freedom of a crystal itself is large in LiCoO2, in which crystal growth is not progressed, consequently a telescopic motion in the crystal is made easy, allowing the relaxation of resiliency between oxygen layers in a charging condition and the restraint of the collapse of a crystal structure. This can improve a charge and discharge cycle characteristic.
