Abstract:
PURPOSE: To apply a D grid to a BWR by setting the cross-sectional area of a water channel smaller than the total area of cells for inserting fuel rods arranged in square grid of 3×3 and arranging a water channel at a shifted position. CONSTITUTION: The area of a water channel 106a in a 9×9 fuel rod assembly 101a is reduced to 80-90% of a conventional one. Center of the channel 106a is not aligned with the center of square grid of 3×3 but shifted toward a wide gap A. The area of a cooling water channel is increased in the boiling region by suppressing the pressure drop of fuel assembly and the combustibility is prevented from lowering due to reduction of the channel 106a by shifting the channel 106a to the inserting side of control rod. Since pressure drop is suppressed and the moderator can be distributed symmetrically, a D grating can be applied to a BWR.
