PURPOSE: To provide a tower type fire extinguishing device which can reduce the driving force for elongating and shrinking the tower by incorporating a lightweight construction in its top part where a nozzle to flush an extinguishing agent is mounted.
CONSTITUTION: A tilt controlling motor 11a for a nozzle 6 and a motor 11b for controlling the pan are installed below the first stage tower 1 located at the undermost, and the torques of these motors 11a, 11b are transmitted to the fourth spline shafts 41a, 41b, respectively, via chains 14a, 14b, the second stage spline shafts 21a, 21b, chains 22a, 22b, the third stage spline shafts 31a, 31b, and chains 32a, 32b. The rotating direction of the fourth stage spline shaft 41a is converted into the tilting direction by the final stage driving gear 51a and transmitted to the nozzle 6, while the rotation of the fourth stage spline shaft 41b is transmitted held as it is.
