Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for measuring the geometric charac teristic of a nominal cylindrical guide mechanism, to be used in a system related to the characteristic evaluation of an element of an optical communication system.
CONSTITUTION: A method and a device are used for measuring the geometric characteristic of an element of an optical communication system, formed by a main body 1 having a nominal cylindrical outer face, and a central member coaxial with the main body 1. The element is placed in a V-shaped groove 3 and is rotated by 360 degree. A TV camera 8 detects a curve drawn by one point of an internal member during the rotation. The eccentricity of the internal member and the non-circular ratio of an outer face of the main body 1 can be determined by the analysis of the numerical value of the curve by the single operation.
