Title:
TRACKING SYSTEM FOR TRACKING MOVING OBJECT BY LASER ENERGY AND ITS TRACKING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3041283
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method in which a moving object is tracked by a laser beam in which the problem of an error and that of an interference are hard to generate and to provide a system and a method in which the 'hit' of a laser beam in a moving target is evaluated independently in order to test the killing effect of a laser weapon system.
SOLUTION: A laser tracking system operates a laser energy beam 60 which is vibrated in two directions so as to be capable of scanning the surface of a moving object 12. A laser energy detector 64 detects the laser energy reflected from the target 12. The reflected energy is filtered, and a vibration frequency with reference to signals in two directions is discriminated. The signals are analyzed separately, and the position of the target 12 with reference to the laser energy beam 60 is judged. A bias signal 55 is generated. By the bias signal 55, the laser energy means 60 is operated toward the radius of the surface of the target 12, it is operated toward a face having the maximum composite radius of curvature within the field of view of a tracking apparatus, and it is directed to a position on the tracked target 12.
