Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a light diffusing resin composition, having a high total light transmittance and light diffusivity and suitable as lighting covers, various displays, etc., by mixing and dispersing a spherical silicone resin having phenyl groups in a methacrylic resin. CONSTITUTION:A light diffusing methacrylic resin composition is obtained by mixing and dispersing (B) 0.1-20wt.% spherical silicone resin, containing 0.1-10wt.%, preferably 0.5-10wt.% phenyl groups and having preferably 4-20mum weight-average grain diameter, e.g. the spherical silicone resin produced by charging a silicone resin and phenyltrimethoxysilane in a Henschel mixer, stirring and mixing both of them a surface treating method) or hydrolyzing methyltrimethoxysilane and the pheyltrimethoxysilane in water (a cohydrolytic method) in (A) a substrate resin containing >=50wt.% methyl methacrylate and, as necessary, further adding other light diffusing agents (e.g. SiO2) lubricants (e.g. higher resin alcohol), antioxidants, ultraviolet light absorbers, etc.
