Title:
PRINTER PLATEN MECHANISM FOR SMALL-SIZED PRINTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3024091
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feed a paper medium to the printing surface of a printing device positively properly by including driving means for advancing the medium toward the printing head through means and a guide mechanism to be secured capable of moving in and away of the direction of a shield.
SOLUTION: The platen mechanism 14 includes a thin, generally flat platen 30 and a thin, generally flat ribbon shield 32 being in alignment with the platen 32. The platen mechanism 14 further includes a sprocket 36 being adjacent to a terminal 32a faced to the ribbon shield 32, and the driving mechanism 36 works to drive a printing medium 12 through a guide conduit confined between the platen 30 and the ribbon shield 32. The printing medium 12 is also supported relative to a sprocket driving wheel by a paper guide 63. Thus, printing media 12 with various thicknesses can be used, thereby maintaining an alignment between the printing surface of the printing medium 12 and the printing surface of the printing head 34, more simplifying the printer and enhancing the reliability.
