Title:
【発明の名称】注入装置
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2535342
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
A venipuncture or similar infusion device (10) comprises a blunt-ended catheter (17) telescopically received in a sharp-tipped hollow needle (14), the catheter (17) and needle (14) being connected respectively to associated hubs (11, 12) which are spring-biased toward each other. In passive condition, with the hubs (11, 12) substantially in contact, the blunt end (18) of the catheter (17) protrudes from the sharp tip (16) of the needle (14). For insertion of the device (10) into a vein or other tissue, a wedge (23) attached to one of the hubs (11, 12) is manipulated to wedge the hubs (11, 12), and the catheter (17) and needle (14) attached thereto, a sufficient distance apart to cause the sharp tip (16) of the needle (14) to protrude beyond the blunt end (18) of the catheter (17). After insertion, release of the wedge (23) permits the spring (13) to return the hubs (11, 12) to passive condition, with the blunt end (18) of the catheter (17) protruding from the sharp tip (16) of the needle (14). Thus, during the indwelling period, the sharp tip (16) of the needle (14) is effectively covered and can do no damage to a vein or other tissue in which it is inserted.
