PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a hologram for diffracting light of an arbitrary wavelength by a simple operation by applying a volatile swelling solvent, residual diffusion component and diffusion coating material compsn. on the surface of the hologram.
CONSTITUTION: This method consists of a stage for applying the volatile swelling solvent which can solve a binder component and can swell the hologram, the residual diffusion component which can penetrate and diffuse into the hologram and the diffusion coating material compsn. contg. the binder component on the surface of the hologram. The volatile swelling solvent assist the penetration and diffusion of the residual diffusion component into the hologram by penetrating into the hologram and swelling the hologram. The residual diffusion component has preferably the compatibility with the material of the hologram changing diffraction wavelength and has transparency even after penetration into the hologram. The binder component is a film forming component to form a transparent film on the hologram surface after drying of the volatile swelling solvent. Whitening or the cavities by the generation of bubbles does not preferably arise in this film.
