PURPOSE: To improve durability by a method wherein, when a main cable is manufactured, a cable body made up of a number of strands which are bundled in covered with a composite sheet of an interior trim sheet of a heat insulating material and a thin skin sheet of a high corrosion resistant material.
CONSTITUTION: Cable bands B are attached at specified pitches to a cable body 1 where a number of strands 1a are integrally bundled, and a hanger rope H is suspended to suspend a bridge girder. The outer peripheral surface of a cable 1 is covered with a composite covering sheet 2 composed of an interior trim sheet 3 of a heat insulating sheet 3a, such as a foamed ethylene molded product, and a skin sheet 4, such as a thin colored titanium sheet. In this case, a holding edge material 3b of an titanium angle member is mounted on the corner on the outer peripheral side of the whole periphery of the heat insulating sheet 3a, the laminate is formed in an arcuate shape having a diameter equal to the outside diameter of the cable 1 and the sheet 4 is welded thereto. Further, an extension part 4a for coupling is fastened to the adjoining edge material 3b by means of screws. This constitution provides an increased life through improvement of weather resistance and heat insulating ability and reduces the maintenance cost.
