Abstract:
PURPOSE:To suitably execute gradation correction by using an input video signal whose variation in level is made small by means of input signal level variation buffering processing, and setting a highlight point and a shadow point. CONSTITUTION:In case the video signals inputted to sharpness circuits 12R, 12G, and 12B from A/D conversion circuits 10R, 10G and 10B are emphasized in contour, the contour emphasis of these video signals is eliminated in the sharpness circuits 12R, 12G and 12B. Also, since the drastic variation in level of a part of an input video signal is converted to a mild variation, noise included in input video signals 56R, 56G and 56B is eliminated. Therefore, a highlight point and a shadow point obtained from a cumulative histogram can be accurate ones of the input video signals. In such a way, a suitable gradation correction can be executed.
