Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process for enhancing energy use efficiency in steel making using two furnaces.

CONSTITUTION: Flue gas 43 heated through an operating furnace 20 is introduced 15 into a standby furnace 10 through connection lines 25, 15 and passed through a mixture of ore and flux in the standby furnace. Consequently, gas energy is discharged to the mixture and gas is sucked from the standby furnace by means of a pressure increasing fan 34 and discharged from a chimney 38.
