Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new 3,5-dihalogeno-2,4-difluoro-6-nitrobenzoic acid useful as an intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I (X3 and X5 are Cl, Br or I), e.g. 3,5-dichloro-2,4-difluoro-6-nitrobenzoic acid. The compound is obtained by nitrating a 3,5-dihalogeno-2,4-difluorobenzoic acid expressed by formula II. Furthermore, the compound expressed by formula II is prepared by fluorinating a 2,3,4,5-tetrahalogenobenzoyl halide expressed by formula III (X1, X2 and X4 are Cl, Br or I), providing a 3,5-dihalogeno-2,4-difluorobenzoyl trifluoride expressed by formula IV and then hydrolyzing the resultant compound expressed by formula IV.
