Abstract:
PURPOSE:To hide coloration of a magnetic recording layer and enable printing on the magnetic recording layer to be performed without affecting the magnetic characteristics of the layer, by providing an aluminum-containing coated layer on the magnetic recording layer provided on a raw paper on the side opposite to the side of a thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A heat-sensitive coating material comprising a color forming leuco dye, a color developer for developing the dye into a color when being heated and an adhesive as main constituents is applied to one side of a raw paper to provide a thermal recording layer. A magnetic coating material comprising a magnetic powder and an adhesive as main constituents is applied to the other side of the raw paper to provide a magnetic recording layer, and a water base aluminum-containing coating material comprising an aluminum powder and an adhesive as main constituents is applied to the magnetic recording layer to provide a pigmented coated layer. When the aluminum-containing coated layer is subjected to gloss calendering or supercalendering, the layer becomes smoother, and printability is enhanced. When the coating weight of the aluminum-containing coating material is set to 2-8 g/mm<2>, no lowering in magnetic characteristics is recognized, the brown color of the magnetic recording layer is hidden, and it is possible to impart not only printability but also the metallic luster characteristic of the aluminum powder.
