Title:
SELENIUM ENCAPSULATION COMPOSITION FOR PRODUCING COLORED GLASS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2607836
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to additionally well detain selenium at a high temp. and to additionally well disperse the same in a glass melt by specifying the liquidus temp. and viscosity of a compsn. contg. specific amts. of silica and alkali (earth) materials.
CONSTITUTION: The glass forming compsn. for encapsulating the selenium therein contains, by weight, 20 to 50% silica and 50 to 80% alkali and alkaline earth metals. The compsn. has the liquidus temp. of 600 to 1200°C and the viscosity of 10000 poises at this liquidus temp. The alkali and alkaline earth metals include a group of nitrate, such as, for example, KNO3, NaNO3 and Ca(NO3) and carbonate, such as K2CO3, Na2CO3 and/or Li2CO3 The selenium is encapsulated into the materials to accelerate the oxidation reaction of the selenium in such a manner, by which the desired compsn. is obtd.
