Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a sigma/delta modulator for removing an in-band tone. CONSTITUTION: Modulators 50 and 100 attenuate the frequency area frequencies of a signal feedbacked to a first stage 60 to the neighborhood of fS/2. The fS is the clock frequencies of the modulator. The modulator substantially removes an in-band tone known in the field of a sigma/delta modulator, and unnecessitates any complicate dither technique. The feedback loop of the modulator 50 includes a two tap finite impulse response FIR filter 80. This smoothly switches the transition, and provides a feedback signal from the output of a second stage 70 to a first stage 60. This structure is valid to either the digital/ analog sigma/delta modulator 50 or an analog/digital sigma/delta modulator.
