PURPOSE: To provide an absorbing device for periodic energy applied to an earthquake resistant element of a building or a damper element of a machine, vehicle, etc., for the purpose of absorbing and relaxing the periodic energy in which an earthquake input or force, alternately changing a level and direction similarly to this earthquake input, acts.
CONSTITUTION: In an absorbing device for periodic energy wherein an inner plate 1 and outer plates 2, 2 of interposing both external side surfaces of this inner plate are piled together slidably in a relatively sliding relation to fasten these plates by a high strength bolt 3 and nut 4, recessed grooves 5 for a solid lubricant possible to flow in or out are formed in at least one contact surface of these inner and outer plates 1, 2. In this way, a suitable amount of the solid lubricant or the like is always supplied between the plates, to maintain favorable slide moving between the plates, and since scuffing is prevented from its generation, the device can be used in an earthquake resistant element of a building or a damper element of a machine, vehicle, etc., with a high quality, accuracy and reliability.
