PURPOSE: To provide a method by which a rolling stock body structure can be held in its rigidity and accuracy in spite of its light weight and equipment works can be execute efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: Skeleton members are eliminated from a rolling stock body structure so that the body structure is built up by only panels. Therefore members equivalent to reinforcing members such as side columns and rafters that are arranged inside of conventional outer plates, are incorporated between face plates of the panels, joint members are joined to the outer circumferential ends, and the aforementioned members are joined together by brazing so as to form panels 60. The panels are subjected to a preliminarily process in respective block units such as sides 20, frames 30, roofes 40, and ends, are combined together, and are welded under constraint, and consequently respectively blocks are formed. Mounting seats 25, 35, 44, etc., for parts fixture are fixed to face plates in the prescribed positions of respective blocks. Then the whole blocks are integrated into the rolling stock body structure so that outfits such as side panels 26, chairs 36, baggage shelves 45, etc., are mounted on mounting seats.
