PURPOSE: To simplify the communication paths between plural driver emulators and device drivers by providing with a signal processing means which converts or decodes communication information between the driver emulators and device drivers into internal information for transmission and reception by common protocol.
CONSTITUTION: A signal from a computer side is sent out to a signal conversion part 13 through the driver emulators 2-4, code conversion parts 6, 7, 8, and 9 which convert the signal into codes corresponding to peripheral devices. i.e., a FAX, a printer, RS232c. and an image scanner, and a selector 10. The signal conversion part 13 converts communication information into the internal information for the transmission and reception with the common protocol and sends it out to the signal conversion part 13a on a peripheral device side through a common communication path COCOM. The signal conversion part 13a decodes the signal on the computer side into internal information on the driver side and outputs it to the device drivers 14-17.
